CONTEMPORARY DANCE
Contemporary is a broad style of dance based on classical ballet technique, ever evolving and drawing from various other styles. ADS teaches contemporary dance with an emphasis on the classical style. Although not a prerequisite, classical ballet classes are encouraged to be studied alongside contemporary dance to assist students achieve their true potential in contemporary dance. During these classes, students learn the dynamics of music by dancing with expression, the use of gravity and suspension as they study different choreography techniques.
No uniform is required for contemporary dance, however students should wear comfortable clothing that does not restrict their range of motion.
